Velkommen til norge!

Hello, everyone!

Our flight landed in Bergen, Norway at 10:45 this morning, with just enough time to sprint through Immigration to be stamped in to country, then run to our connecting flight to Oslo at 11:30.  Everyone was eager and ready to sprint so that we wouldn't miss the connection, and we didn't!

We were greeted with sunshine while in Bergen, and an incredibly awkward, in our opinion, "Welcome to Bergen" sign:
Yes.  This is a very real, and large, fixation outside the Bergen Airport.

We were met with snow in Oslo.  Everyone brought their cold weather clothes, and were very happy to accommodate having their picture taken outside at the train stop at the airport.

The ride into Oslo was brief; no more than 25 minutes.  The architecture was enjoyable to view.

These buildings each house an international accounting firm!

Arriving at Central Station, April purchased our 3 day Oslo public transportation and museum passes; conveniently, all in one card!  We then trekked the nice 15 minute walk to the Anker Hotell, where we will be staying for the next 3 evenings.

We are all amazed at how the sidewalks are not salted, whatsoever.  The sidewalks are pitted paths of smooth ice, with the occasional gravel sprinkled on top.  Walking single file was of necessity, although in some places we could walk two-by-two.

The public transportation is also of amazement, now positively speaking. Oslo has an incredible network of trams, busses, and trains.  Although some do have vehicles, most people rely on public transit instead.

As we checked in after 3, everyone had the opportunity to relax in their rooms, and explore Oslo for dinner.  Tomorrow, we depart at 9:45 a.m. for our meeting at the Viking Ship Museum, and then have a series of hikes planned in the afternoon to different places of historical significance.  Until tomorrow... :)
