Toodleloo, London!

Hello, everyone! We've checked in at London Gatwick Airport and are ready for our time warp across the pond. :). ( I have adorable pictures to share, yet the internet isn't being supportive of uploading them.) For anyone who follows flight trackers, we're on Norwegian Air DY7015. Coming home is bittersweet; everyone is happily tired, and it's been an incredible journey with the most phenomenal people.  :) I'll attempt to post one more time when we land.  :)

London free day

Image
Hello, everyone! Today marks the final full day of our trip.  Students happily took advantage of their BritRail passes and toured the countryside; to Wales, to Stonehenge, to Cardiff, and more, while others leisurely took in the amazing things London has to offer. They've shared photos for the blog today, however uploading today's photos are taking unusually long.  So!  As everyone absolutely loved Dover yesterday, here are more pictures (and a lot more candids :) ), in time order of latest to earliest in the day. Tomorrow we meet at 1:30 to head to the airport;  our flight leaves a bit after 5:00.  If Blogger will be more accommodating on my phone, I'll attempt to put up a brief post saying when we're about to lift off.  :) Top: Juliet, Paulette, Heidi, Emily, Casey, April, Jay Bottom: Yuri, Cristina, Karolina, Kylee, Josh R "Cristina!  Do one of your trademark selfies!" This is as far as my phone would zoom in...

Everything Dover!: The Castle & White Cliffs

Image
Hello, everyone! The White Cliffs! Back: Jay, April, Emily, Heidi, Karolina, Heidi Front: Josh R, Kylee, Karen Special thanks to Cristina for taking this photo :) Happy wonderful Wednesday. :). Today was a very special day, as it marks our very last group excursion (the trip to the airport Friday doesn't count :) .) Today we spent our day in Dover.  It was about an hour train ride from London; very scenic once we passed two of London's international airports. Outside Dover Castle... with sheep! No wool was pulled over our eyes; Dover Castle was extraordinary! Dover Castle sits quite high; buildings and rooms within buildings are strategically placed for the utmost protection.  Rooms are furnished, providing a realistic "live in" feel, and age-appropriate music and sounds were projected in various rooms. Fun fact: the walls of Dover Castle range from 23 feet thick at the foundation, narrowing to 18 feet thick at the top.  Wh...

Westminster Abbey

Image
Hello, everyone! A very happy Tuesday to you all :) We enjoyed a beautiful, early spring day in London today.  The sun shone for the majority of the day; perfect viewing weather for Westminster Abbey! Quite a gargantuan structure! A few of us visited early, to participate in the 8 a.m. Holy Communion.  Less than 20 people were there total, and the Dean of Westminster himself led the services. Photos are not permitted... however we weren't told that until after I snuck a few :) When everyone arrived, we went through again (they did not permit viewing of anything after services; it was get-in-and-get-out-promptly.). What a different scene in a matter of an hour and a half!  It was quite crowded, although with admission everyone was given a headphone set and smartphone-looking device which has a series of small videos pertaining to where you're standing in the cathedral; really great for self-guided tours. Everyone has been so g...
